It is finally Summer! It is hot and everyone is trying to head down to the shore to cool off. However, hitting crowded traffic and dealing with frustrated drivers goes hand and hand with your trip most of the time. Where ever you are going you should be informed or at least reminded of some of the driving safety tips that help make your summer traveling a little bit easier. Check out the link below to see our 10 Summer Driving Safety Tips!

  1. Plan ahead by mapping out the best route, and check traffic conditions before heading out.
  2. Do an overview of your vehicle before you pull out of the driveway: Check the air in the tires, the oil of the car, adjust your seat, make sure you have everything you need; turn on the air conditioning- even set the right stations so you are ready for a relaxing, comfortable drive.
  3. Turn off all distracting electronic devices such as cell phones, as to not be distracted while driving.
  4. If you need to send a text message, take or even make a phone call, pull over to a safe place before hand.
  5. Before leaving, buckle in children and keep them happy with snacks and entertainment.
  6. Make sure to eat a sensible meal before leaving, as this will increase your attention and mood during the drive.
  7. Put on makeup, fix hair and dress appropriately before leaving the house.
  8. Drive slowly around construction areas to avoid accidents (many people don’t pay attention to the changes in the road due to construction).
  9. Watch for potholes and uneven pavement, as they can wreak havoc on your tires!
  10. During rain, even if it is at night, wear sunglasses to prevent glare, increase visibility, and reduce glare.
