Summer Grilling Safety Tips
Summer is a time of enjoying the breeze, swimming in the pool, going on vacation, and of course going to the beach! All of these great ideals and family get togethers are what makes summer…. summer! The one thing that can never be left out is the always great and tasty outdoor grilling!
Here at AJM Insurance, we want to make sure that you have a safe and fun summer. Below we have listed 10 safety tips that you should follow while grilling in your backyard this summer, take a look:
1. Be sure that before you start grilling; place your grill at least 3 to 4 yards away from your house or shrubbery to avoid any accidental fires.
2. Always check the connection of the propane tanks fuel line too the grill to ensure there is no leaking.
3. Be sure to stay or keep a close watch on the grill at all times.
4. Keep all children and pets away from grill equipment until it has completely cooled down.
5. Make sure that the starter fluid you use for charcoal grills is made specifically for barbecue grills.
6. Move the grills’ gas hose away from any hot surfaces and from areas of dripping hot grease. Be sure to provide cover for the hose if you cannot move it.
7. If there is a leak in your propane tank or gas line, be sure to not light anything flammable near it to check, and call it in to be repaired immediately.
8. After you are done grilling, check to make sure the grill is off as well as the propane tank.
9. Charcoal should only be burned outdoors due to Carbon Monoxide, which is very dangerous and toxic.
10. Before you start to grill, read and follow any of the manufactures instructions that apply to your grill.
