The Burlington County College Foundation has organized a unique way to unite high-achieving students with insurance industry expertise and opportunity.  CNA Insurance has generously agreed to sponsor selected BCC students to take the first two CPCU classes as they work toward this important designation.  In addition, the Insurance Society of Philadelphia recruited the instructor for the course and has committed to providing vital support to the program.

Once the students have completed and passed all five courses over the next 18 months, each student will have also earned 15 college credits from BCC.  According to BCC Board of Trustee member Amy Webb, this program is one more way the College connects students with careers.  “The generous support of CNA is greatly appreciated and this level of commitment emphasizes to our students that their studies are important to their career choice.”

“It’s a win-win,” according to David Arnold, President of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia, who added, “We believe a 110-year old professional education society like ours must collaborate with area universities and colleges to promote education, industry and employment.  We see all these virtues in this relationship and could not be more thrilled to participate with BCC, its faculty, administration and, most of all, its students.”

CNA is headquartered in Chicago, IL and locally, this agreement was organized by Tony Mahon, President of Cherry Hill-based AJM Insurance. “BCC has identified a diverse and motivated group of students to participate in this initial course offering and we will be pleased to welcome them through internships to the industry upon completion,” said Mahon.

To celebrate the kick-off to the program, the College will host a welcome reception for the inaugural class of students. The reception will be held on Wednesday, January 26 at 4 pm in room 320 of Laurel Hall on BCC’s Mt. Laurel campus.  Following the reception, the students will head off to their first class session.
